Im ersten Quartal 2016 wurde das EU-Markenrecht erheblich reformiert. Die Gemeinschaftsmarke heißt nun Unionsmarke, das HABM heißt jetzt EUIPO, die amtlichen Registrierungsgebühren sind geändert worden und es wurde als neue Markenform die Gewährleistungsmarke eingeführt, die weitläufig auch als Zertifizierungsmarke betitelt wird.
